Friendship, food and wine …

Last night my husband and I went out for a meal with friends.  It was a pleasant summer evening so we took a gentle stroll down to a local tapas restaurant.  The meal was lovely.  Tapas is not my favourite food but there is something very satisfying in choosing numerous dishes and sharing them.  The table was soon overflowing with small dishes of varied and very colourful food, although I might not order the deep fried goats cheese again!  We consumed a couple of bottles of wine and the eating process was accompanied by friendly banter, catching up on what’s happening with each other’s family, what’s happening in each other’s lives and just having fun.  The whole evening was very relaxing.  Even the walk home – uphill – wasn’t too arduous!

Friends are an important part of our lives.  We should never underestimate just how important…

“A change is as good as a rest …..”

We have just bought a new trendy smart television to replace a clunking old fashioned CRT model.  Nothing earth shattering in that.  Most of our friends have replaced their televisions with smart TVs.  However, in our household this new purchase means we have had to rearrange our front room to accommodate it.  It is a larger screen and does slightly overwhelm the room.  Accordingly, the sofa has had to be repositioned, book cases have been moved and a general decluttering has taken place.  We now have a room that looks surprisingly bigger and lighter. It has been revitalised.   I am looking at the room through new eyes.  It is now a treat to sit in there.   Who would have thought that buying a  new TV could have had such a knock on effect?   It may be cheaper than redecorating ….
